The Dangers of Rapid Weight Loss
Rapid weight loss may seem like a good idea when you are desperate to get weight off in a hurry, but the long term ill effects of this type of weight loss are something that you need to be fully aware of before you start any diet of this kind. First, you need to realize that any weight that you lose with this type of diet will essentially be water weight. You aren't losing fat, and it is just a matter of days before the water that you've lost is replaced - along with the pounds that this liquid makes up.
Obviously, since you are losing water weight, instead of fat, you can easily dehydrate on this type of diet. Detoxification diets that are supposed to jump start diets are also dangerous, leading to diarrhea which in turn also leads to dehydration. These types of diets also lead to malnutrition, which of course can cause organs to become damaged, or to shut down completely. Often, the damage done is not reversible.
Aside from the life threatening dangers of rapid weight loss diets, you must also consider the discomfort of these diets. This discomfort includes the feeling of starvation, muscle cramps, headaches, the inability to sleep, a lack of energy, feelings of nausea, and more. Aside from these ill effects, your appearance will also suffer. Your hair will look lifeless, your skin will pale, and of course your skin will also dry out and look older while you are torturing yourself with this type of diet.
